@critialcloudkicker I still like it but I don't actively keep up with it. Not sure why people do that thing where they get super invested in something then drop it and don't like it anymore, never understood it. I rarely if ever stop liking things.

@nerthos it's almost second nature to throw all in for many people any more. Mostly just looking for distractions.

@critialcloudkicker It has nothing to do with it. MLP has become irrelevant to internet culture at this point as it no longer shapes the memeworld. It went over the sensation stage and became a secluded fandom like all others before.

@nerthos Well I can understand having little else to be excited about that one goes more in to something but it's also grabbing for something to identify with. Wouldn't say it's immature in and of itself.

@nerthos yeah but like the little to be excited over, likely if you do that you have little else to identify with... huh come to think of it that's a mark of immaturity; identifying yourself by the things you like exclusively.

@awl That's my point. A mature person has an identity that isn't exclusively defined by their tastes, but rather their tastes are a secondary trait used to find entertainment or social interaction.

@nerthos Yup, that is all true, I guess. But I never liked the memeworld, and you can say I have a terrible aftertaste of the so called 'internet culture' ( for it is a horrible place full of regurgitation ). But I am having a bit of trouble with the 'was still relevant' part. Do I hope the show will die gracefully lest becoming a new spongebob. ( there are some people who say it is too late for that though ) ... and that is why I am having trouble with the phraising that was used...

@critialcloudkicker As I think Gherkin said? The show will keep releasing episodes until they have enough to put on repeat and keep children hooked to it and asking their parents to buy them toys.

@nerthos As long as they still make good episodes every once in a while, I guess that would make me happy. But lets focus on this part right here ; Calling a previous hobby or pastime you enjoyed irrelevant now probably is not healthy.

@nerthos But who cares about if it is relevant NOW when you are talking about having/holding a theory that Scootaloo came out of Discord's butt ? That is like the total opposite of a bragging right. It is a small step short of kicking your own hindquarters.

@nerthos You know, I kinda started this whole debaccle because the whole "I once was something, but now the internet culture is as good as dead, so I am calling what I was part of irrelevant now" seems to be really unhealthy to me. But a couple of dashes later, I'm not really sure. I might just be really really sleepy and stumbling over a word... ... ... Guess I am going to bed, Gnite :)

@critialcloudkicker I don't think that's what anyone meant. It's not about being all "nah I'm so totally over it", in my case I was explaining why it is objectively much less relevant to internet culture nowadays than it used to be. Goodnight though.
