  1. I still think credit can be used to your advantage more than bring you down as long as you think of what you can afford down the line before you jump in to a large loan. Treat the loan as an investment, and think of what installments you can easily afford to pay off.

    1. @awl The biggest issue with credit cards is recklesness, not the thing itself

      1. @nerthos @awl Yeah, the rewards that some give out are nice, but they're only worth it if you can pay back in full every month.  Many go spend a lot to rack up those points only to realize that they are borrowing more thant they can pay back.

    2. @rarity you will yes as long as your payments are consistent. So hopefully you'll be good. It took me years to build up credit to buy a house and mess it up completely, but it's on the mend again.

    3. @rarity the maxed out card will make it worse unfortunately, a lesson I learned too slowly trying to pay off mortgage and a tool account

    5. @rarity yeah they have to look at that stuff before they decide to take the chance; unfortunately how else are you supposed to build credit.

    6. @rarity used cars are incredibly hit-and-miss and most of the models you'd find are way more expensive than they need to be, even if going by market value. I only got lucky with cars because I literally do all the work myself lol
