    1. @mrconventrix You only take it from them if you assume you would have bought the Album in the first place. From my personal experience, this assumption is very wrong.

    2. @mrconventrix You are talking about "downloading". If you listen to a song on YouTube, you are downloading a copy you have not bought yourself. The location this data is saved his no effect on what kind of data it is. Also, most illegal downloads aren't in the format you use for purchasing items either. (Most illegal downloads use .mp3, but legal downloads from iTunes are .m4a, and songs on a CD are .wav). And no, your point does not stand, because you are not TAKING any money from them. If I come to your house and make a copy of your driver's license you can consider me rude for doing that, but I haven't stolen anything because you still have the original thing. Here is the key point: http://urlybits.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/piracy-600x597.jpg

    3. @mrconventrix If the link I sent you earlier wasn't enough to convince you, I suggest you watch this lecture by RMS. http://ur1.ca/9sk6h

    4. @mrconventrix This discussion isn't about it being morally wrong or not, it's about piracy vs. theft, which is simply not the same. And now, .mp3, .m4a and .wav aren't comparable at all. They use greatly different codecs and are not compatible with each other. It's like putting a car engine in a motorcycle, it doesn't fit. And if you are against downloading music you do not own, you should not use YouTube because it downloads a copy of the song to your device so it can play it. It's that easy, really. (Don't take me as someone who only downloads music and never buys, because I do buy music I enjoy. You are clearly seeing me as such a person because I am trying to state that piracy is not the same as theft.)

    5. @mrconventrix I joined the discussion when you and @hakupony were talking about the difference between piracy and theft, not when you were talking about the morality of downloading without paying the artist.

    6. @mrconventrix I am only stating piracy is not the same as theft. Stop assuming that means I download all my music illegally.

      1. @omni Okay, now I'm misreading. I'm obviously taking this too personally.
