where'd my excitement for Nier Automata go
-
seriously tho people seem to be getting -even more- excited, and i, a person who adored Nier despite it definitely being flawed, has suddenly felt all excitement drop off the map
-
@katiekats Honestly I think it's getting pretty overhyped.
-
@katiekats But uh, given everything went quiet the moment review copies went out ... I'm not optimistic.

@maiyannah
its been getting great reviews so far, tho not many yet (and im skeptical of reviews these days for mainstream stuff anyways, as most are)

@maiyannah
yeahhhh.
to be honest, it seems kinda generic in many places, -especially- in combat (i dunno if its just me that has gotten to the point of 'platinum combat' being really generic cos of repetition)
at the same time, i know how much i liked the original, so im trying to gauge how much is skepticism, and how much is a weird maybe hipsterish "it looks too mainstreamy now" if that makes sense-
@katiekats Practically speaking, there's three likely scenarios here:
1] the review copies are under NDA or an embargo,
2] the game's not that great but they don't want to lose advertising revenue from the makers,
3] the content that we *are* seeing is basically paid.

@katiekats Maybe you work by conservation of ninjutsu, so your hype is inversely proportional to how much other people do.
