Watching a history channel documentary about nazis hiding in the north of Argentina. These guys are absolutely and completely clueless, I have a hard time believing them to be historians or archeologists. "This construction is clearly european in style, not something the locals would build" the north was and still is completely full of german immigrants, and so is Paraguay which is quite close to the place they're at. Almost all constructions in the 40s were european style here. "How could they build all of this here without anyone noticing?" why would they need to hide anything? Building houses isn't illegal, all you have to do is buy the land and materials. Why would anyone here give a crap if they're nazis or whatever in the 40s if the country was neutral to the war? they're just foreign refugees, no one cares as long as they pull their own weight. These "historians" are imbeciles that don't know the first thing about research.

I am wondering how they even know what their political beliefs are.-
@sim Regarding the nazis? they found nazi coins, pictures and stuff hidden in a can in the wall. Which isn't rare giving the inhabitants were war refugees. They probably built in the northern jungle out of fear of the jewish death squads that used to ilegally hunt refugees in the years after the war. One of the reasons I always say the jews did more harm to my country than the nazis ever did.

Damn. But even there... they probably just took what belonged to them with them when they fled. Anyone in Germany then could have taken those things. I don't know that it tells you what beliefs they had. They certainly kept it hidden to themselves though. I would also imagine that they were frightened of the death squads, yeah. Sounds like it would cause harm.-
@sim I'm pretty sure they were nazis as a lot fled here, and no one minded. They didn't start crap like in the current refugee crisis, they just blended in, got jobs, and lived their lives quietly. Israel sent the death squads to ilegally hunt them down because that's what they do, not because the refugees here were a danger to anyone. Plus these "historians" act as if their countries didn't have nazi refugees. The difference is that over there they'd tell nazi sciencists "work for us or die", here they were allowed to live like normal people.

Yeah... it is pretty rich of them to talk as though their own countries didn't have them too. Honestly, I'm not really sure what the right answer would be. If they individually committed crimes then I think they should have been tried for those, otherwise leave them be. I'm not sure that death squads were ever the answer, especially when as you say they weren't a threat where they were.-
@sim The death squads were there because israel is evil, plain and simple. They've caused all kinds of crap by carrying over their fights and grudges to other countries. If I were in charge I'd kick them out of here. As for the refugees, since our country wasn't involved in the war at all, we just allowed people from all sides to live here after or during the war as long as they followed the law, nothing wrong with it. If their original country wanted to judge them for something they could submit a request for deportation to the government.

Given that they've hunted them down and caused more chaos, you would think that it would be enough. But they still hold what happened over peoples heads in the present. I agree, it would have been best to request for deportation so that they could be judged if they did commit crimes.-
@sim We had two terrorist attacks here in the 90s that were completely unrelated to Argentinian issues, they were a fight between Israel and Iran that they fought through proxies and bombing embassies and the like. The only smart move is to cut ties with Israel and tell them to keep their issues to themselves, we have nothing to do with it. They'll keep complaining about WWII as long as people listen, just like they complained up until that happened about the whole moses thing, that even if true, happened /thousands of years ago/
The only winning move against that group is to tell them "we don't care, go away"Friday, 10-Mar-17 20:45:17 UTC from web-
@nerthos
Jeez... sounds like cutting ties was the smart choice there. Bombing embassies... c'mon. Yeah... it's time to move on with life, and they aren't the only group that need to learn this lesson. Time to stop blaming people in the present for what people in the past did.-
@sim @maiyannah The issue is that the imbeciles in government didn't cut ties with either. The two bombings in the 90s are more than enough justification to not deal with either Israel nor Iran any more.

I do wonder. Perhaps they managed to secure a deal where there wouldn't be more terrorism on their land?-
@sim Not really. Incompetence is a sport to them.
