Guys confused on why EQD will get sued by the IOC (International Olympic Committee) Look at this post: http://www.equestriadaily.com/2012/07/equestrian-olympics-banner-competition.html (unauthorized use of the olympic rings)

@jackzhang oh, HAHAHA

@jackzhang And what makes you so certain? EqD's using it for a noncommercial purpose, on a noncommercial site to commemorate the event, and they aren't claiming any affiliation with the event. That seems like fair use to me. (Not that I'm well-versed in fair use, so if I'm wrong somewhere, I)

@redenchilada @jackzhang (I'd genuinely like to know.)

@redenchilada hay

@redenchilada Fair Use does not exist pertaining to the Olympics. If a media lawyer can sue you if it was fair use, it's not applicable.
-
@jackzhang Really?
-
@redenchilada Look at the first Colbert Report episode of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics.

@redenchilada Suffice to say, the olympic committee has some... frankly insane restrictions on what you can/can't do with the olympic name/logo. Might well not actually hold up in court, but the usage there is well within what the consider grounds to at least threaten action.
