  1. @micahflee # for us is the network of nodes connected via the !ostatus microblogging protocol. Ostatus has been created by the makers of StatusNet (which is now called GNUsocial) in about 2008. About a year ago # has been created as an interoperable alternative to GNUsocial (different server software and user interface but otherwise much the same and everybody can follow everyone). @csaurus @lambadalambda @quincy

    1. @mcscx2 @lambadalambda @micahflee @quincy We say Fediverse because it's more general. IIRC Diaspora instances can also federate with nodes that know how to speak the ostatus protocol.

      1. @csaurus unfortunately the federation with Diaspora is still one-way. We can subscribe to them and read their posts, but not vice-versa.

        I don't know if Diaspora call themselves "the fediverse" too. @lambadalambda @micahflee @quincy
