  1. I have badmouthed the GS code repeatedly in the last month out of frustration, but the truth is the code has allowed me to be very expressive, and I have gotten tremendous bang for my buck out of it and none of this great stuff I have would have been possible without it. So # and the people who made it: thank you.

    1. @moonman It is horrible, I agree. There's a reason I don't say I'm a !GNUsocial developer, but rather just a maintainer. I want nothing more than to see the codebase get rewritten from scratch in a sensible language.

Unfortunately, given the great body of work that the codebase is, rewriting and including all functionality that comes along with it takes a long, long time. #'s been at it for about a year now and still doesn't have, afaik: #, groups, various small helpful markup/header treats.

But they're getting there I guess. Unfortunately I'm allergic to Ruby.

      1. @mmn yeah I am not going the Ruby route either. Not even getting started on that path.

I've got some code I need to upstream, but not until I take my hacks and make them correct.
