1. # users: content warnings dont exist out of mastodon, like literally, the programs don't have it.  So asking for them won't help even if the person doesn't mind putting CWs on stuff.

Consider asking people to # tags on stuff that is truly objectionable - it is the universal fediverse sensitive content tag.  Any message that is tagged # should be spoilered on most of the fediverse at this point.

    1. That's just images though, #, though if text bothers you that much maybe we could change it so it spoilers the text?

      1. @maiyannah or have like
AERIS DES
tags.

      2. Can someone on # tell me if # gets spoilered on Mastodon?  Not at my computer to poke my dev instance.

        1. @maiyannah Weirdly, it does. No I understand the complaints even less.

          1. @lambadalambda You need a content warning for something already spoilered?  WE NEED TO GO DEEPER.

            1. @maiyannah @lambadalambda It's got to have seven layers of tags, content warnings, trigger warnings and a netnanny thing to protect their sensitive eyes from a picture of an Asian girl in a bikini.

                1. @maiyannah @lambadalambda Oh apple, also it needs an always honestly answered popup box asking if you're over 18.

They are on a different mastodon instance so it probably isn't implemented there automatically.

            1. @sim @lambadalambda Er, NSFW tagging was like ... 10 months ago in Mastodon...

              1. @maiyannah @lambadalambda

Right, but do the new mastodon instances know about it?

                1. @sim @lambadalambda Possibly not, but they wouldn't've seen Lambda's post if they hadn't clicked through the spoiler.  So they did, just to complain that Lambda should spoiler it.

Does the content warning work using the hashtag nsfw? I don't think they use yours because it is a new mastodon instance that may not know about it.

                    1. @sim @lambadalambda It's an inherent function of mastodon I'm pretty sure.  It has no plugin framework I'm aware of like GNU social or postActiv does.

                      1. @maiyannah @lambadalambda

Yeah. I think you can probably mark it on your post before sending it or something. So it probably doesn't work like it does over here for the hashtag. I could be wrong though.

            2. @sim @lambadalambda It is entirely possible given Mastodon's general kludgyness and not working very well that it's not working properly though.

    2. @maiyannah Having an established standard and then deciding to compete with it by creating something incompatible is stupid as apple.

He could have at least had it read the tag and apply his on crap so it worked in one direction.

      1. @cyberpotato I believe that's what he initially did.  But whether it's the case now in Mastodon, I'm not sure.
