          1. @redenchilada I don't think I'd be sad if it had favored the liberal agenda honestly. I like free speech no matter which side takes advantage of it.

            1. @pony It just irks me that people care so much about forcing their religious views down others' throats. (I also deeply apologize if I offend anyone by saying this.)

              1. @redenchilada @darkw00d @nerthos It's become a highly polarized topic in the US.

                1. @pony My parents actually have wildly differing views on the subject. Learned that the hard way after my little bro brought up the WBC in the car and they started arguing over it.

                  1. @redenchilada oh yeah. it's divisive alright. Even among religious folk not all agree.

                    1. @pony It's kinda funny, actually. My mother's highly religious but supports same-sex marriage, while my father's not as religious but is against it.

                      1. @redenchilada exactly. There are no clear sides demographically speaking.

                2. @pony It became a highly polarized topic everywhere. Conservatives don't understand that everybody is free to do what they want with their sexual and romantic lives, and gays don't understand that other people don't want them to constantly complain and protest about being discriminated. I'm basically in the middle of it. I don't have a problem with people being gay, but I don't want to hear about it. I'm ok with them as long as they keep it private.

                  2. @nerthos I didn't get to see much of a reaction to the debate in Italy since I returned to the US before Prop 8, but I suppse you're right. It would be a big deal everywhere.

                    1. @pony 1- I don't know what Prop 8 is. 2- Europe has different ways of dealing with things. At the end of the day it all comes down to the most vocal minorities of both groups being idiotic.

                      1. @nerthos xD sounds not too different than the US honestly. Prop 8 was a huge, HUMONGOUS deal where the majority of the people voted against gay marriage in the state of California and the court then overruled the democratic process prohibiting the ban on gay marriage as unconstitutional.

                        1. @pony Hipocrisy at it's finest. If it's a democratic system, then the will of the masses should be heard. If you're going to do whatever you want, at least admit being a dictator, be honest.

                            1. @pony It only bothers me when they're hypocrital about it. I support both democratical, monarchic and dictatorial governments, but if you choose one, play by it's rules.

Friday, 03-Aug-12 08:14:12 UTC from web
                              1. @nerthos To be honest, the US government has almost always had an overpowered judicial system. The US isn't a true democracy but a democratic republic wherein officials are elected via the democratic process and, depending on the state's constitution, the official may act counter to the will of the people, including putting certain judges in power.

                                  1. @nerthos I find it baffling.. In any case, I feel that it was wrong to overturn a vote that was originally deemed fit to send to the people.
