@pony Sounds scawy D:

@derpyshy It's a Giblie film.. there are some suspenseful parts, but it's not really that scary I think.

@pony Ghibli? It's not an obvious one to spell, in any case.

@pony XD No, I meant "who the pickle is that? :o"
-
@derpyshy Oh! lol* it's a studio in Japan that's even more famous in its own country than Disney is in the US. Miyazaki works with the studio (very famous animation director), and they've made some of the most beloved anime films ever.

@pony They also work very closely with Pixar when localising the films, as I discovered from the Howl's Moving Castle DVD extras. Turns out John Lasseter is a _massive_ Ghibli fanboy. :D
-
@bitshift Argh! I can't believe Lasseter has the gall to introduce the Ghiblie films on DVDs! It just makes me nerd rage so hard!!

@pony I gotta see that :3

@derpyshy Castle in the Sky is also terrific, and by the same studio. I also really love Princess Mononoke. Ponyo was absolutely beautiful, but the story was kind of meh. Spirited Away is great, but also more somber I feel. My Neighbor Totoro is whimsical and fun but again the story in that one wasn't your typical Hollywood thing. The list goes on.

@derpyshy Castle in the Sky, Howl's Moving Catle, and Princess Mononoke are my favorite Ghibli films. An honorable mention has to go to Kiki's Delivery Service which was the first film I watched of theirs and made me love the style and characters.

@thatonestocking I just watched the dub. The acting was really good. Usually I prefer the subs, but I wasn't disappointed.

@pony I feel pretty much the same about both versions (also, if you have the DVD, the full Japanese audio track is on there, so you can get at that without much difficulty), but for me Billy Crystal will always be the better Calcifer. :)

@bitshift I love Billy Crystal as Calcifer! he was a hoot!
