You can pinpoint the exact point at which KKat lost all control over the pacing of the story: http://i.imgur.com/01tDsh.jpg

@ceruleanspark Exact same story with Harry potter and the goblet of fire

@purplephish20 The main difference is that the quality went nuts after Goblet of Fire, varying between "poor" and "stellar". KKats writing remains stable (har) throughout, but just becomes increasingly long-winded in the middle.

@ceruleanspark I thought prizoner of azkaban was magnificent at the time, goblet of fire was good, but order of the phoenix absolutely bored the living phuck out of me, I got it the day it came out.... never finished it, never read any of the later books, and never seen any of the later films

@purplephish20 Order of the Phoenix is pretty much Harry yelling at his friends and being a complete dick. Then Fvevhf qvrf #spoiler and he utterly flips his apples and spends the entire of half-blood prince crying about it. Then Fancr Xvyyf Qhzoyrqber (that remains my favourite spoiler of all time) and Harry transforms his continual moping into action and gets his kiwi together for the last book, which is genuinely a return to form.

@ceruleanspark oh god, i know the second spoiler just from lettering patterns. Laughing for real because you actually spoiled it.

@abigpony There must be some people on the internet who don't know, right? Somewhere?

@ceruleanspark i facepalm every time i realize just how much was actually written for just a pony fanfic. I'm never sure whether i should be disappointed or impressed, so i feel both.
-
@abigpony It's very well written, but I feel the same about it. The author is clearly very talented, but it genuinely seems like a waste to lock that talent up in a piece of fanfiction about technicolor horses.

@ceruleanspark i was never impressed with his writing. It seemed dull and unnecessarily dreary. Maybe it's the theme and general lack of interesting ideology possible between the two crossovers, but it could never keep my interest. He seems like he just needs better things to do.
-
@abigpony @ceruleanspark I have zero interest in the crossover. It could be the best written fan fiction ever but it's still Fallout.
-
@jla That's interesting. I've seen people refuse to read it because ponies and fallout shouldn't mix, but never solely because of the fallout aspect. You dislike the series that much?

@ceruleanspark I won't call the games bad, but I'm not a fan or enamored with the fiction. Now STALKER is a different story.
-
@jla A different story in that the game /is/ bad, or that you're enamoured with the fiction?

@ceruleanspark The latter, it's one of my favourite games ever.
