@widget At least a 1/3rd of Apples succcess is their fanatical devotion to the feel, fit and finish of their hardware.

I mean part of the ol' android support clusterdole was down to android makers taking a scattergun approach to trying to find a niche, and generally, samsung and HTC seem to have found what sticks (Samsung moreso), namely: Single flagship device with good support, and a couple of lowtier devices with no/community support. The only people who don't seem to know what they're doing at the moment is motorola.
-
@ceruleanspark Motorola? Why?
-
@superrainbowblast They still seem to be launching multiple top-tier handsets with overlapping but not complimentary featuresets, and their record for providing software updates in a timely manner remains terrible. Also they're still in their "Lets lie to our customers" stage re: providing unlocked bootloaders.
-
@ceruleanspark Or Sony. New phones with Gingerbread. Ha.
-
@scribble @ceruleanspark Sony at least opened up a massive ammount of their phones, to directly help Cyanogenmod. i cant fault them for releasing phones with gingerbread when they support the community. I could fault microsoft more for causing their Lumia 800, the flagship, to become totally irellevant and obsolete. I wonder if the community will have luck and prove microsoft wrong.
-
@ceruleanspark ah I see. [s]HTC pulled the unlocked bootloader lie thing too with my phone [/s] Samsung is at the top right now.
-
@scribble Also, gingerbread isnt even bad. If i didnt have the option of jellybean, or even ICS, i'd still enjoy using my phone on Gingerbread. Even Froyo is still decent, as my brother is proving from his phone.
-
@cavatina I'm not convinced Windows Mobile still has a community. Everyone who was interested in old WinMo is making awful android themes and software now.
-
@superrainbowblast I think it's the first time HTC has done it though. Motorola has told the same lie with every generation of handsets it's come out with.
-
@cavatina Gingerbread has a lot of really annoying bugs though. Makes me want to throw my phone out the window sometimes.
-
@ceruleanspark XDA has a community of sorts for the Lumia 800. However, as soon as it became apparant the phone was being totally abandoned, and left only with a new theme, the community just...dispersed mostly. Nice going microsoft~.
-
@ceruleanspark It looks like motorola is the the process of dieing. Also I think the bootloader thing is half my phone service's fault.
-
@lovetolerateandsquee What phone/rom/GB version? 2.3.7 is solid as a rock for me, AOSP, CM7, TouchWiz, all of em.
-
@lovetolerateandsquee Gingerbread has been swell with me. Froyo was horrid. What do you have?
-
@cavatina Wait a minute. Derp. I'm not using Gingerbread anymore, I confusedit with Icecream Sandwich. *facehoof*
-
@lovetolerateandsquee Your having problems with Ice cream sandwich?
-
@lovetolerateandsquee Is it an official ROM? what phone? I cant imagine it's a final release, even my phone was buggy before samsung released the source code.
-
@superrainbowblast Google bought their handset division. They only wanted them for their patents, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were just left to suffocate.
-
@ceruleanspark I'd welcome this. Honestly their phones are just...mreh. I'd like to see it just make one phone a year, if anything. Nexus.
-
@ceruleanspark Most likely. Thats the end of Moto. Im excited for Nexus, that looks like its going somewhere.
-
@cavatina Well, given Samsungs massive mishandling of the Galaxy Nexus, it seems unlikely they'll be selected again.
-
@ceruleanspark Indeed. I also welcome this if i'm totally honest. It'd be nice to have a change, y'know?
-
@ceruleanspark I'd love for asus to do it.
-
@cavatina Yeah how about a phone manufacturer who makes hardware out of something other than the cheapest materials available
-
@superrainbowblast Yeah, for example, when I watch a video, it will randomly switch to either the music app or Soundcloud in the middle of a video and start playing my most recently plated song.
-
@ceruleanspark Honestly, that's where i'm coming from. I'd love for Asus, or HTC to do it. Just for the build.
-
@widget Samsung devices are not well put together, that's the thing.
-
@cavatina HTC doing another Nexus I'd be down for.
-
@lovetolerateandsquee Im guessing you have HTC then? You sure your not doing anything to cause it?
-
@cavatina It'll probably be Asus to keep the styling similar between the Nexus 7 and the prospective nexus handset
-
@scribble As long as they dont F*** it up like they did with the first one. Would that be a phone you'd buy? X3 Also i notice you fall silent whenever me or Ceru lightly criticise WP7...well, not even the OS. just microsoft xD
-
@cavatina It's an official ROM, yeah. And my phone is a Galaxy SII.
-
@lovetolerateandsquee ...WAT. How...what. I dont have ANY of these issues. sogihsd.
-
@widget That is the one thing Motorola consistently gets right. Their choice of materials is always top notch. My brother is still using my original droid handset every day.
-
@lovetolerateandsquee I dont know anything bout samsung :L
-
@cavatina *shrugs*
-
@scribble *shruggityshrugshrugboop* :3
-
@cavatina that's half the fun of android, trying to figure out which minor environment change causes one phone to respond totally differently to another. I had a friend convinced that the inestimable HTC Desire was a POS because of a buggy Seesmic install holding wake-locks indefinitely. A factory reset and he told me it was "like a new phone"
-
@ceruleanspark Oh, i do agree there... It's not so fun when you realise the wakelock is your fault for restoring apps from a backup rather than installing the APK's from the backup... >.>
-
@cavatina I dunno. *shrugs*
-
@lovetolerateandsquee May i reccomend you switch to Cyanogenmod 9? it's much better :3
-
@ceruleanspark It is the same with Luxury Cars. Audi has a sound engineer employed solely for the purpose of making sure the doors make a reassuring sound when you close them.
-
@ceruleanspark Does it cuddle you?
-
@widget Microsoft's hardware people are basically the opposite of Apple. Kinect doesn't work in an average sized house? Well, then people had better upgrade their houses to play!
-
@cavatina I might, though I have no idea what to do. Also, would I have to put all my music and other files on again, or would they still be there? I know nothing about anything :/
-
@lovetolerateandsquee They'd still be there, and i'd gladly help you!
-
@cavatina Thanks :3 But I can't do it now, because homework. :/
-
@lovetolerateandsquee Oh, i didnt mean right now, but i'd gladly help you :3
-
@cavatina I'll cuddle you… *cuddle*
-
@toksyuryel Even better! ^_^ *snuggles back, nuzzling your neck*
Toksyuryel likes this.
