@nerthos aw yeah dude. Nice little tank.

@awl Ye. Cast metal with plastic gun and details, rubber treads. Full collection would probably cost about $1000 over a year but I think I'm going to get it so when I move I can put it on a dedicated shelf. Each number includes the model tank and a normie-friendly little magazine with details and history about the model.

@nerthos Despite having a few things I never devoted to an entire collection of anything. When it comes to war stuff I did at one point try to get a Potato Knishesload of German planes but that didn't work out so well, as they were build yourself modells.

@awl Oh, yeah, those are much harder, if more detailed. I'd need to invest in an aerograph kit, paint, glue, and a bunch of things for them, even though they're generally cheaper than pre-assembled kits. I have one of a french jet fighter somewhere. There's also another collection being sold of WWII planes, but tanks are my real passion. It's probably available in mexico too since the editorial works over there too, so you could get them if interested. The planes are a bit bigger than the tanks and come pre-painted and in about 3-4 parts to assemble.

@nerthos Working on a 1/32 of a Messerschmitt Me109 is what got me interested in aeroplanes, back in the day. Just something about the construction piqued my curiousity, and I started researching the plane and the designer. Basically that model got me on the track I am now.

@awl Nice. It was kind of the same with me and the panzer vi. Liked that one so much that I started actually researching tanks, armor, ballistics and all that. Not to mention WWI dogfighting and WWII tank combat were the last cases of more "knightly" combat in open war that we've had, and probably the last for a very long while.
The Me109 is a beautiful plane, still have the kits around?-
@nerthos Sadly the only one I have left is a metal 1/48 that got damaged when we moved 6 months ago. Come to think of it I want to replace it with another pre-built model. The plastic ones never last.

@awl Oh, moved again? still with that girl or?
Plastic ones are really fragile, but usually offer a lot of detail. You're supposed to put them in a shelf or plastic case where nothing can touch them though. Individual acrylic cases or a shelf with glass walls ideally.-
@nerthos Yeah, we moved in together six months ago. Pretty mutual when it comes to expenses. She's got medical school, I have the rest of this year to get my certifications. All the models I made, I made to hang. Some of them did get to be hanged but would get knocked down by.. something.

@awl Nice to see that working out for you. Maybe you can get more models whenever you get to own a house and don't need to move. If you're building, an extra room specifically for hobby stuff isn't a big expense.
-
@nerthos Hopefully early next year we'll be househunting. We've come to a consensus of getting out of the city, but don't know exactly where. We've been a few places in the country and have liked it a lot.

@awl Nice. Out of the city is always better as long as you can get to work in a reasonable amount of time.

@firestormdangerdash Oh; he's on another instance in GNU/Social. We federate, but public timeline doesn't show notices from other instances unless you have the oldschool settings on.

@firestormdangerdash @awl click on my name, press "remote follow" on my SPC profile then when it asks what account you want to use to follow type "firestormdangerdash@rainbowdash.net" in there. It'll redirect you to a confirmation page on RDN.
