@dariusponyperson Dude, Valve's always been about self-funding. And they run the most successful online game distribution method ever. I don't think they have any good reason to let EA buy them out.

@redenchilada Also why would Gabe sell? People typically sell when they're either bored or feeling greedy. Gabe doesn't seem to be either.

@firestormdangerdash I just look at mass effect and then realise I wasted my bloody life on those games for no reason also if they bought out nintendo their PR would go down the toilet every new game would have an online pass and lets not forget the bucket loads of pre order and normal dlc. OH HEY I GOT AN IDEA WHY NOT MAKE THE NEW 3D MARIO GAMES ENDING COST 10 BUCKS VIA PRE ORDER DUURRR HURRR

@lovetolerateandsquee I like how Gabe Newell said "Studio would more likely disintegrate than be sold". But yeah, EA Games? If that would ever happen, I wouldn't even WANT Steam on my Linux system anymore. I trust and like VALVe, I wouldn't even talk to EA Games if they were the last company in the world.

@lovetolerateandsquee The beta should be this month, there is already an entry in the Steam database: http://cdr.thebronasium.com/sub/apps/16549. The "final" release is, according to Phoronix, scheduled for February. But I want this god-damn beta now :(

@redenchilada Sometimes it's not about "letting" someone buy you; very often what happens is you get forced into it. And EA's the type of corporation that can do something like that.

@omni I wish :/ I bought Portal 2 for my Xbox before I got into PC gaming... I feel stupid now, I could've saved loads of money AND got the Perpetual Testing Initiative.
