    Of all the reasons to be awake at 03:20..., "because a smoke- or CO-detector is emitting a single deafening BEEP *somewhere in my house*, *once per hour*" is quite possibly my least favorite option.

      Eventually I found the BLEEP'ing detector and replaced its batteries. Then my neighbor's house caught fire.
      Is this what the first # was like?
