  1. Sometimes I really wish I went through the whole "negative stigma towards My Little Pony" stage. I can never know that feel. http://ur1.ca/aij1f

    1. @abigpony I think for a lot of people, the stigma they think they're gonna experience is majorly overinflated. Some people do have problems with family of friends flipping out disproportionately, but I think they're genuinely a minority.

      1. @ceruleanspark I mean more towards the franchise as a whole. I've always appreciated it and because of that, I never really get most prony-related problems people have had.

        1. @abigpony I was against watching it largely due to the fanbase, but in the end I realised that was a retarded reason not to try something and just did it.

          1. @ceruleanspark See, i watched it BECAUSE OF the fanbase. It was sweet back then.

          2. @ceruleanspark Amusingly, that's why I waited so long to watch it myself. In the end I became exactly what I was afraid I would, but in doing so I've also realized how much of an idiot I was for ever thinking that would be a bad thing.

            1. @toksyuryel My experience with the fandom before I watched it was largely in the form of idiots spamming perfectly valid discussion threads with pony images to derail them. I was only seeing the worst of it because I wasn't involved in it.

      2. @ceruleanspark I would be willing to wager that by far most of the people you may be seeing with such fears are american, and here it is a legitimate concern. Keep in mind: this is the country where even if Romney loses it's still going to be a close race.

        1. @toksyuryel Me and Dragon used to get emails from parents accusing us of corrupting their kids and demanding we ban them, but they were very few and far between. They are however the reason we disabled geolocation on this instance.

          1. @ceruleanspark When considering the quantity of such emails received, do keep in mind that this site is relatively obscure. The fact they emailed at all could be evidence of something more significant.

            1. @toksyuryel Given that they were largely written in all caps and threatening to sue us for an undefined offense, I think they're largely evidence that some people are very very stupid.

              1. @ceruleanspark Well, this much was never in dispute ☺ though I am left to wonder how many of those were actually from real parents as opposed to somebody pretending to be parents.
