Well it's not as though depression is inherent to the site, rather it's inherent to the fandom. the site simply allows for a medium though which it can be expressed. Generally with "love and tolerate" being the motto of the fandom one would expect to be allowed to share their feelings and be met with empathy and understanding. It's convenient that the quote at the top of the page explains why a lot of people wound up in this fandom, partially myself included. but what cha gonna do, eh?

@praxis I dunno, a lot other places are a lot cooler it seems. This place just generally has that vibe that you can go baw about your worries to random folk on this site, and it's constantly making this site seem depressive. I honestly hate this site cause of that one reason. (There, I said it.) :p

@minti I dunno, I feel like in a way a lot of people here are really close here.. unless you mean some of the relatively new people. (Am I still technically 'new'? xD)

@neurario Compared to some ponies, yes I basically consider you new. xP But yeah, a lot of us are close, but there's also a lot of people who just dump their problems on this site. Bugs me. :p

@minti Well yeah, too much of it gets annoying. >>

@neurario Exactly! xD

@minti I'm going to feel hypocritical saying that now, but it's true~ XD I guess there's a difference between venting on a public network and confiding to one or two people you trust. As much as I've felt maybe posting it on a site like this or Twitter or G+ might help, more people and such? It doesn't really work out that way.

@minti Well I suppose my opinions would be rather skewed, since I've only even been here and occasoinally the mlp board of 4chan... but it comes with the fandom. being around sad people can make you sad/uncomfortable/annoyed, but being sad and just wanting someone to actually give a damn can be crushingly painful. So I don't mind talking about it it. But that's just me, I guess.

@praxis Yeah, don't get me wrong. I love helping people and listening to people. The problem is, I come here to talk to people about stuff. Be it ponies, coding, kyoot cat pictures, etc. I don't come here to dispell arguments over stupid drama, or to help people with their feelings. :/ (Okay I guess I kinda do come here to dispell arguments now, being a mod and all but still XD)

@minti What if we separate the site, similar to how the RP site was? It's a rather naiive suggestion but worth a shot.
Thursday, 18-Oct-12 05:40:32 UTC from web-
@praxis Ehh, nah. No one would go to self-help network and no one would get help that way and everyone would just feel like crap xD
Thursday, 18-Oct-12 05:41:38 UTC from web-
@minti There is a self help site run by bronies
-
@foxgopher /shrug I wouldn't know. xD

@minti My aunt made a point to clip it from the newspaper and send it to me. There was a big article in Colorado since that's where the kid was from.
-
@foxgopher Neat! I didn't know that, actually. :p

@minti just an interesting tidbit for you I guess.

-
@minti I know I shouldn't go on when I'm feeling depressed. I'll admit it's pretty inconsiderate.
-
@renovatedkitchen @neurario Mm, but this is just my opinion. Don't let me stop you guys if you think it'll help. ;p
Thursday, 18-Oct-12 05:47:00 UTC from web-
@minti depending on how down I am, some people do cheer me up a bit. It's also a good time killer. Also when I talk to people I kinda dumb myself down, so I forget about the things that bring me down
-
-
@renovatedkitchen Hi. I miss you. And I agree with your point.
-
@foxgopher miss you too buddy. Also, I've become inconsiderate to the point that sometimes talking down to someone makes me smile. It's bad i'll admit
-
@renovatedkitchen Yeah it's not good. Idk.
-
@foxgopher I've just stopped caring about lots of people and things. I mean inside me I care I think, but it's really not logical to most times.
-
@renovatedkitchen Emotions are intrinsically illogical. That's why Vulcans lock them away.
Thursday, 18-Oct-12 05:53:40 UTC from web-
@praxis that's honestly how I see them. Without emotions fogging your mind, you can focus much better.
-
@renovatedkitchen Even good ones. Often a side effect of being very fond of someone is just rampant thought when you try and sleep. Weighing factors, playing out scenarios, trying to derive how they feel. All the while your lying there saying "Brain, stahp."
Thursday, 18-Oct-12 05:57:50 UTC from web-
@praxis exactly! I'm guessing you aren't an emotional person?
-
@renovatedkitchen I get lot's of emotions, I'm just often self are enough to rationalize through them.

@praxis this is something I need to do.
