God dammit, spoiled Linux brats. Stop acting like the first Steam for Linux release targeting Ubuntu as main platform is such a huge problem. If it runs on Ubuntu, it will run on practically any sane Linux OS and Ubuntu is the biggest one. WE ARE GETTING STEAM, WHICH WE HAVE BEEN FIGHTING FOR FOR YEARS. WHY CAN'T ALL OF YOU JUST SHUT UP AND BE HAPPY FOR ONCE! \rant

@toksyuryel Well, that is slightly worrisome news but, seeing how VALVe clearly stated that they do not want to be part of closed platforms it would make sense for them to use more "standard" libraries. And even if they don't, those tools will probably be hacked until they work everywhere again. Still, doing nothing but swearing at VALVe for not supporting OpenSUSE/Arch/Mandriva/Debian/etc. isn't going to fix everything, especially because the client runs everywhere just fine and VALVe officially stated they are looking into possibly supporting other distributions as well.

@omni To be fair, Valve said they would support other platforms based on how much they hear calls for them to support those platforms so in a way this is exactly what they asked for.
