@techdisk It shouldn't do that. A simple root didn't delete anything on my phone. (Now, flashing a new ROM onto it, that'll remove all your apps, contacts, etc.)

@redenchilada @omni #latereply well, i ran a .bat file that was supposed to root my tablet. All it seemed to do was delete all my apps, the google apps, leaving only the sony preinstalls. I just admitted defeat and reset the thing. I might try the manual root procedure tomorrow. Yay console commands!

@techdisk Are you actually rooting or flashing? There's a difference between the two. For flashing, that is pretty normal (and if you're flashing, you're doing it wrong because you should do a factory reset first, which will remove all your apps), for rooting: Wat.

@omni "you should do a factory reset first" what no one ever told me this.

@redenchilada Everyone has been telling me this, and I found that you prevent minor issues with doing a factory reset before you flash =/

@omni Rooting. its kinda a haphazard way because its the only root availible, but meh. I downloaded the APK for the P store.

@techdisk How do you mess that up though. I'm mostly ignorant of how Android works and I still managed a basic root without affecting any of my data. (...Except that it made my phone gradually more unusable until I put CM on it... :x)
