@fnordly Tripcode generator? WANT
Wednesday, 29-Jun-11 17:25:05 UTC from web-
@sonicrainbro Really?! K. Thanks. I was wondering what to do, now.
-
@sonicrainbro www.donutey.com/tripcodes.php has a link to and information about the most common solution, but I am looking for or implementing an open-source one, because I am paranoid and/or sadomasochistic.
-
@fnordly Tripcodes? There's a ton of open source ones.
-
@starshine Thank you for giving me hope. I googled it, and am exploring more options, now. I still need to write one, but now, at least I have a better place to start than the confusing and likely incorrect article on the wikipedia: enwp.org/tripcode Ugh.
-
@fnordly You could write a tripcode finder from scratch in like five minutes. I don't really see anything wrong with that article though. (Btw, I know WAY too much about the implementation of various imageboards, and used to post a lot on /soc/)
-
@starshine Hm. 1) Tripcrunch on Google Code is the only open-source solution that I have found. 2) The article: I disagree with your comment about it. Maybe I am being stupid, but... 3) It is cool. There is nothing to it but to do it. Everything happens for a reason. 4) I gotta get outside more. 5) Sincerely, I thank you for the encouragement and optimism about my ability with this likely simple task. BRB: I am going to go and set something on fire.

@fnordly Enjoy that. Off the top of my head there's VecTripper which is remarkably fast and well designed, but only works on Altivec processors (i.e. PowerPC), and there's 4brute which has a pretty fast bitslicing implementation that's quite hard to track down. Other than that there's TONS of trippers that use DES or some other library, because they're quite easy to put together. I suggest reading the tripcode stuff on /soc/, and perhaps also dig through old /prog/ threads, and I'll leave it at that because this isn't pony-related at all.
-
@starshine Tripcodes are entirely if not exclusively pony related. I am going to start with what I have now and check into the references that you made later, but it seems to me that the Brony Movement is a result of Anonymous separating itself from anonymous script kitties and the like by using tripcodes to encourage each other to stand up against the more malicious trolls.

@fnordly Real or malarky? There are Alcoholics and Anonymous and Anonymous Alcoholics and Alcoholics Anonymous and Lulzsec and before we had beer we had nothing. After we figured out how to make beer, we organized and built pyramids in the desert. Any questions?
-
@fnordly Yes, one: how HIGH do you have to BE to even WRITE something like that
-
@fnordly Where does the thoughtstream of a sustained violin filter to in the void of space?
Jon and Angela Conrad likes this. -
@starshine http://everything2.com E2-high.
-
@fnordly Er... okay? I used to post on there back in like 2000 or so. :)
-
@starshine BTW You were right about the tripcode being easy to figure with the Wikipedia article. I was unable to read at that time for some reason. The problem is getting lost in navigating the tripcodes.

@fnordly Don't think, feel, and you'll be tanasinn ∵∴∵∴∵∴

@starshine I got the phrase "Real or Malarky" E2.
