@widget @abigpony I've clicked around and see no menu accessible from the page I'm on. I know how to edit the playlist the long way, but it adds several steps. http://ur1.ca/bzvy9

is there a way to edit youtube playlists while they play still? I used to be able to click the X on any track to remove it and rearrange them.
-
@pony I don't know if you can rearrange them, but you can remove them by checking it in the appropriate menu and then deleting it with the appropriate button.
-
@widget okie thanks anyway
-
@pony Just alt-open the playlist so you can keep that going, edit it the default way, and it will edit the playlist in real time. Again, don't think you can rearrage anymore. I was bummed on that but you haven't been able to do that for a LONG time.
-
@abigpony it used to be one-click at the bottom of the page to remove tracks while playing though. Are you saying I now have to 1. Ctrl+click to open the playlist page 2. click "Edit playlist" button 3. scroll down and find what I want to delete 4. click the check box for that track 5. scroll back to the top 6. click "Actions" 7. click "Remove videos from playlist" 8. click "Save" and 9. close the playlist tab ??? If so.. LAAAAAAAAAME!
Pony likes this. -
@pony 1.ctrl-click to open play list 2. check what you want to remove 3."remove". There is no "save", no "more actions" and finding the videos you want to remove does not qualify as 3 steps.
-
@abigpony I just went through this process. What are you clicking to open the play list, because my playlist pages require every step I listed. Also, in playlists with over 100 tracks I consider finding the track I want and scrolling to the top to be equal in effort if not greater than a single click, therefore they get their own steps.
-
@pony Well don't abuse the functionality of playlists then. My youtube playlists can play in any order I want because they're songs that I can listen to continually and whatnot instead of having a mediocre playlist I made when I was a babby.
-
@abigpony among thousands of songs ranging from mediocre to amazing on my ga-jillion playlists I have a single Top Picks playlist where I keep about 100 songs that I love above all others. I don't consider this abuse.
-
@pony Then The playlist order shouldn't matter and you shouldn't be deleting songs often enough for the extra 2 steps or so to be a big burden. It's like all of Toks stupid little nitpicky complaints.
-
@abigpony it's an extra 7-8 steps if you please. I don't care about the order honestly.. Shuffle still works so that's all that really matters there. I do love the new organization and layout. Looks much better.
-
@pony That sounds more like a conflict between the design goal of the playlist feature (putting related videos together so they play in order, for instance, multipart web series), and actual real world use cases (People using youtube as the worlds least efficient media player). I don't think the designers ever intended people to put more than about 20 things in a single playlist.
-
@ceruleanspark I guess it depends on which designers you ask. they capped playlists at 200 tracks.
-
@ceruleanspark it really is very inefficient xP I hope some day I can afford to download everything I like and share it as easily with others the way Youtube allows.
-
@pony Everyone uses youtube differently, so youtubes internal designers simply work from what the officially published purpose of the site is when making design decisions, because they know if they made changes based on any given groups use case, all the others will get up in arms. It's like how everyone gets mad about any changes to the facebook timeline layout because some people use it differently to others.

@ceruleanspark makes sense
