I have to work today, but I do so under protest.

@madflavors To be honest in this case it's just typical manager shortsightedness. "Morale? What's that? Can you draw a graph of it? No? Then it doesn't matter. More days work means more work gets done, right?"

@ceruleanspark When I declined overtime, came in for my shift later that day, I was told that "blah, blah We were swamped, you don't work, blah, blah". Good thing I didn't take the overtime today. If they said anything how I declined, I would have for sure snapped. Im a part timer. They need to learn how to take care of themselves

@renovatedkitchen I'm mad at these people because they declined my holiday request because "someone needs to be in to cover the department", which is fine, but then, during the holiday I /was/ allowed, when the department WAS covered they hassled me to come in anyway until I just switched off my phone.

@ceruleanspark Wow, thats not cool :(. I'm always skeptical of turning the phone off, in case they say I was avoiding. Usually just put it on silent and let it ring to itself

@renovatedkitchen Well, since they refuse to consent to me setting a Service Level Agreement (because it would reign in their abuse of IT resources), they also don't get to hold me to a minimum standard of out of hours coverage. They can't have it both ways.

@ceruleanspark Its becoming rediculous how companies work these days. Not even managers care about the other workers. They seem to have the idea that they are great and will become rich. Its sick to me at least. Because they are closer to the workers than anyone. The higher ups don't care about their managers. Whats worse, is I've been seeing that managers seem to believe that you can get something out of nothing. "Its all about customer service"> Will have ABSOLUTE MINIMAL workers on, to the point that clients are complaining about lack of service. Then the workers get the flak for (not working hard enough)?
