  1. Hey... I'm Fluttershy. I saw this site and made an account. I hope you don't mind...

    1. @widget Humm. I hope he'll still at least support OStatus. :\ What do you plan to do with this instance? I assume we're still going to stay on SN?

    2. @widget Ahaha, welp.

    3. @widget Oh boy.

    4. @widget Personally, I'd rather we not try to switch over to pump. It seems to be heading in a completely different direction than StatusNet aims for; in fact, I wouldn't even label the two as part of the same lineage of product. At least as far as us using it, it'd just be an unnecessary change.

      1. @redenchilada @widget what does this mean then? Can we keep using this instance of SN as it is?

        1. @pony If we can't even keep StatusNet up-to-date, I don't think moving to pump is something we have to consider. :p

          1. @redenchilada so the fact that they're not supporting SN anymore doesn't mean that we have to stop using it?

Wednesday, 16-Jan-13 04:11:18 UTC from web
            1. @pony Yeah, it's not like we need some sort of central server running to keep using it.

            2. @pony We don't have to, it'll just grapes off the programmers who maintain it. The usual.

              1. @minti Why should they care? It's not like they have to maintain it.

                1. @redenchilada Cause programmers are like that. "We stopped supporting that old piece of junk you should all use this new shiny one."

              2. @minti @redenchilada ah good. that's all I was wondering. yeah I see no real problem with this except as it affects confederacy with other instances outside of RDN (and SBN) which might choose to shut down, meaning that, unless you've been using statusnet elsewhere to follow RDN users or vice-versa, this affects nothing.

                1. @pony Or if they implement OStatus on the new clients they'll work seamlessly. :D

Wednesday, 16-Jan-13 04:19:59 UTC from web
                2. @pony That all depends on whether pump support OStatus. If it does, it'll work fine. If it doesn't, e14n (P.S. that's a dumb company name) is shooting themselves in the foot anyway.

              3. @minti Like me still using a (outdated) RDN refresh!

          2. @redenchilada I don't even see the point on keep it up to date. If a release works, why change it?

Wednesday, 16-Jan-13 04:11:47 UTC from web
            1. @nerthos At this point we've messed with enough of the code to making any upgrade a hassle anyway. Better to patch up what needs patching and backport a feature from a newer version if we want it, in my opinion.
