Advice for starting the most basic of community websites? Speaking on behalf of a myself and a few others here, is statusnet actually workable in good hands? Or is it really that terrible? Also proboards is being thrown around a bit.... meh

@redenchilada Community site for up to a hundred people (ish) for meetups and stuff, plus general community stuff like what we have here. Hell an RDN clone would be perfect

@purplephish20 Well if you're not super worried about things being organized easily later StatusNet would work pretty well for that. I have barely any experience with it but from what I've seen it can't be too hard to set up. (Hell, I managed it once, so it must be easy to figure out)

@purplephish20 Also, if you're looking into something for meetups you might consider a private instance so people can post sensitive info without it being readily available to the entire world. (Making an instance private is just an option in the admin panel, so you could easily switch if need be)

@redenchilada Aye, it just beats everything being done through skype, which when you have over 69 (hurr durr) people sharing a skype chat, it gets unmanagable
