  1. I don't know why, but even though it's already April 9th, MSN still works for me. Maybe it blocks only the last version?

    1. @nerthos I think it's a phased shutdown, rather than "Everywhere goes dark on this date". I imagine they're starting at the A*@hotmail.coms and working their way down

      1. @ceruleanspark Hmm. It'll take them a few days then to reach mine. I wonder if there's a polygamy option for Skype, since I don't want to merge both accounts. I'll try connecting with a chinese proxy once it goes dark.

        1. @nerthos Apparently skypekit is a huge pain in the mangoes and doesn't support multiple connections from a single endpoint. Or at least that's what Trillian claim anyway, but they claim a lot of things that later turn out to be complete fabrications.

          1. @ceruleanspark There's already a Plus script for Skype, which years ago enabled the polygamy option on MSN, so maybe that'll fix it. I don't want to merge accounts because Skype is awful to use when there's over 40 contacts

            1. @nerthos That sentence was 7 words too long

              1. @ceruleanspark I guess. It's ok for basic text and voice chat, but it's really lacking in other features.

                1. @nerthos Its offline messaging is a pain and its windowing behaviour is irritatingly inconsistent. Not to mention its total inability to handle long names or status messages.

                  1. @ceruleanspark Have you tried the plus script?

                2. @nerthos On the other hand, you can change your displayed name at will without having to mess around staying on an outdated version

                  1. @ceruleanspark I've been using an outdated version since I installed Win7

                    1. @nerthos I was until I installed a my hybrid drive and then I was too lazy to find an old installer again so I just moved to skype and stuck with the newest one

                      1. @ceruleanspark I remember sending you a mediafire link with the installers for the version I'm using

                        1. @nerthos Me and my shadowy group of associates made the decision to move to skype ourselves rather than let MS screw up "Migrating us".

                          1. @ceruleanspark I've always liked to enjoy things until they simply cease to exist.

      2. @ceruleanspark "The upgrade from Messenger to Skype on Windows desktop will start on April 8*. The process will take a few weeks to complete. We’ll start the upgrades with our English language clients, and finish up with Brazilian Portuguese on April 30 or later." BRB switching to Brazilian.
