        1. @lincop .........yeah. That makes me sad. And the fact that they're 'required' is what's worse. :\

        1. @lincop either you go to a wealthy school that expects that, or there's something else going on. iPads are a commodity anywhere around here.

          1. @alightrarityomg My high school gave laptops to the freshmen this year for some new program. Guess what they did on them all day

            2. @redenchilada More than likely NOT what was expected of them. I can't handle this.

              1. @alightrarityomg More specific. I'll give you a hint: it starts with "P" and ends with "lay videogames all day instead of doing classwork"

                1. @redenchilada Thats what I would do

                2. @redenchilada it just blows my mind that schools have the money to give away laptops / tablets, or have the gall to make it a requirement to buy one. I can't even handle it. My college course for Computer Networking/Repair didn't even require a laptop. What in God's name could require a laptop?

                  1. @alightrarityomg My school's actually pretty alright financially for being a public school. Apparently the laptop initiative is for connected classrooms and stuff and all the teachers make us do online assignments anyway so the laptops are SUPPOSED to be for doing that.

                    1. @redenchilada I guess, but what happened to just having desktops in classrooms? The only way I could see it working out is that you'd only need 1 laptop per student instead of 20-40ish desktops per classroom, and that'd somehow be cheaper? I dunno. It doesn't make sense to me.

                      1. @alightrarityomg They do that for computer classes, but for other classes... I honestly have no clue.
