Someone is hard at work for making a downloadable pony ccg. Unfortunately, it is heavily influenced by MTG and Yugioh just like the others, and I'm convinced at this point no one will ever attempt to take a more creative nonviolent approach to making a fanccg about ponies http://metaphoricalproductions.tumblr.com/

@prettypurpleprincesspublicprincesstimeline while the rules are interesting, it just doesn't make sense that the point of the game is to drop as many ponies and creatures as possible, and have them all swing at your opponent's mane 6 pony.

@prettypurpleprincesspublicprincesstimeline What kind of nonviolent competition between ponies could make a good CCG? Maybe turn the Iron Pony Competition into a card game? That could be interesting.

@redenchilada It wouldn't be COMPLETELY nonviolent, however the win condition(s) would not revolve around the most overused win con in ccgs that also happens to work directly against the overall themes of the show.

@redenchilada For me, I feel like a win con revolving around achieving the highest possible level of friendships would be more interesting, and have more design space

@prettypurpleprincesspublicprincesstimeline Interesting. How would that be made into a competitive card game, though? Wooing over the main six?

@redenchilada I like the idea that you start your game as a character, though it wouldn't have to necessarily be one of the mane 6. Each non-villain character in your deck would have an element of harmony attribute; not to say they're that element but what element they are closest to instead. Each pony would also have a friendship level requirement in order to play that your mane would have to meet, but the requirement is lessened if they're your element type. With me so far?

@redenchilada Each pony you play has a minimum Friendship requirement, and also a personal Friendship value that can be added to your total Friendship when you meet certain criteria during each of your turns, which helps you get closer to winning. You and your opponent can each play cards to hinder this win con by playing events which are unfriendly, like a card that represents a huge argument targeting one of your ponies. That pony could have a token put on it, or be turne upside down to signify it is currently unfriendly and cannot contribute its Friendship value to your score until you play an event which restores her back to friendly status. Each element would have access or better access to events and other types of support cards which can further this main win condition or various other win conditions
