I wonder what sort of effect a surgical incision into the hypothalamus might have on a person.

@pony Given what it regulates, damage to the hypothalamus may cause disruptions in body temperature regulation, growth, weight, sodium and water balance, milk production, emotions, and sleep cycles.

@ceruleanspark ooh not good. I was thinking it could just diminish appetite, but there's too much involved I suppose

@pony A lot of appetite suppressants do target the hypothalamus, typically by stimulating norepinephrine release (The fight or flight hormone). Though, if you're trying to lose weight, there are better ways.

@ceruleanspark yeah. I was just thinking in my sleepiness of how lobotomies were given to mental patients and I was wondering if it could make a come-back somehow. xP
