  1. Hey... I'm Fluttershy. I saw this site and made an account. I hope you don't mind...

    1. @vt3c It does not look so fat to me...

    2. @vt3c good to know that no matter how much ram I get in future computers they'll always find a way to be slow.

      1. @pony @vt3c In contrast, this server is running on just 4gb of RAM and a tiny dual core.

        1. @ceruleanspark has the switch been made then already?

Tuesday, 09-Jul-13 09:09:19 UTC from web
          1. @pony Yep. It's all me now.

        2. @ceruleanspark 4GB is still more than any of my computers. :P

          1. @pony How can you survive on that :o ... Especially with the price of ram being near equal the price of a new XboX 360 game

            1. @critialcloudkicker You're asking this to a guy who used a single custom built desktop PC for 15 years before switching to 2-year old used PC which has now been in use for about 3 years. I aslo got my mediocre Dell laptop to last 7 years. Why buy electronics and upgrades when I can get them free as gifts?

Tuesday, 09-Jul-13 09:18:57 UTC from web
              1. @pony 5 years total.. though it's pretty crummy and I'd like a different one badly.

              2. @pony I can think of a couple of reasons actually. The biggest one being user-comfort due to speed. The second one would be related to PC gaming.

                1. @critialcloudkicker I make do just fine. There are no games I play that require anything beyond what my machines can handle, though LoE would've been nicer with a better graphics card I'm sure. By the time that game comes out in Beta I think I'll have something newer to handle it though. The only program that wouldn't run on my desktop (Bluestacks) was able to run on my newer laptop.

                2. @critialcloudkicker What I'd really like is a computer that can handle livestreaming and recording as i play various games or use art programs.

        3. @ceruleanspark Are we talking 90nm or 65, or 45 ? 32 ? 22 ? I do not think there are any 22 nm dual cores actually

          1. @critialcloudkicker tiny as in "small capacity". It's 3ghz opteron

Tuesday, 09-Jul-13 09:12:12 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
            1. @ceruleanspark Ohh... Wait is "small" the correct adverb ( ? ) then ? ... I am sorry for asking this, I kinda just got out of bed and my "normal human subroutines" have not fully loaded yet

Tuesday, 09-Jul-13 09:14:01 UTC from web
              1. @critialcloudkicker Small is acceptable when referring to the capacity of on object.

    7. @vt3c Wow. So much free stuff. The first PC I got that I can remember is a 286 portable PC that was hooked to a normal CRT monitor. The monochrome LCD was unusable.

Tuesday, 09-Jul-13 09:38:29 UTC from Choqok
      1. @broniebrown I miss my old amber monochrome screen

    8. @vt3c I wish my friends just gave away hardware. The thriftshop is hit and miss and i'm too lazy/busy to go through the tedium of looking inside and figuring out whether or not it'd be compatible etc.

Tuesday, 09-Jul-13 09:40:13 UTC from web
    9. @vt3c indeed!

Tuesday, 09-Jul-13 09:42:09 UTC from web
    10. @vt3c I guess I am unlucky in that perspective that I live in the Netherlands. When people think they can ask money for something they ask too much, and almost noone can ( or is willing to ) haggle... Or they just throw it away... Silly Dutch

Tuesday, 09-Jul-13 09:43:24 UTC from web
    11. @vt3c ... speechless... I live in a country where a broken laptop can cost over 100€ on ebay...

Tuesday, 09-Jul-13 09:44:59 UTC from Choqok
      1. @broniebrown I think I just said that... I did not think Germany was just as bad though

          1. @broniebrown no much diffrence here http://www.marktplaats.nl/z/laptop.html?query=laptop&currentPage=2&numberOfResultsPerPage=30 ... except that most of these things do not have the defect or broken prefix

Tuesday, 09-Jul-13 09:50:44 UTC from web
    12. @vt3c exactly. It takes real good luck with that sort of thing. I'd like a new computer, but as I said, I'm really okay. :) If you did find something like that for $30 I'd be happy to accept it. I'm sure that shipping would bump it up to $40 or $50, but I'd still pay you back for that gladly.

    13. @vt3c The description tells that it doesn't turn on, doesn't have an AC adapter, no battery, no HDD.

Tuesday, 09-Jul-13 09:51:10 UTC from Choqok
      1. @broniebrown What does "defect fur bastler" mean anyway ? ... I mean "broken for ... " what exactly ? I saw it a lot

Tuesday, 09-Jul-13 09:52:06 UTC from web
        1. @critialcloudkicker "Bastler" is a term for a person who does crafts. A person who likes to tinker with stuff. So in this case a person who likes to repair stuff.

    15. @vt3c It's been a while since I tried to get my old tower to work. Maybe I'll pick you brain some day when I try again.

Tuesday, 09-Jul-13 10:00:49 UTC from web
    16. @vt3c I can't code that well. I only have moderate programming skills and make a lot of errors.

Tuesday, 09-Jul-13 10:01:28 UTC from Choqok
    17. @vt3c hmm.. it's pretty heavy. It'd cost less to buy me a nice shiny Raspberry Pi. xD Thanks for the offer though!
