@awlderpy Communism would be great in a society of equal individuals, but humans are by no means equal, so our best bet is a competitive society.

@awlderpy They were intellectuals. I as one can understand where they came from. Among idealist and intelligent people, devoted to a cause, a society of equals without a need of rulers can and is often brought to fruition, but when you try to port that model to massive numbers of people, it breaks irreparably.

@awlderpy Yes. Communism was implemented on the big scale alwayws in times of need and turmoil. When the people were living really hard lives. For it to function for long periods of time, it needs to be implemented in a relatively prosperous moment, with the idea of using it as a medium to better the society, instead of just to be able to eat.

@awlderpy Yep. It was often implemented in a way that turned people into drones.

@nerthos logically, for communism to work, it would have to only include people who WANT it to work. I can't see it working in a large scale way.

@awlderpy It often IS the only way, as sadly a major potion of any population wants to live without doing anything.

I myself am a very greedy, idealist and power-hungry man, but when faced with other people like me I can easily take a position of equal to the rest of the crew and work towards an end, since I know it's the best way to do it. But most people don't have either the drive, the skill or the ideals to do any of that.

@awlderpy And we crash against the wall that represents the differences in skill of different individuals, that turns the idea of the same portion of the earnings for each member into something in no way fair.
