@yodelerty @mushi I hated it on my first playthrough. This time I have an Emboar and I finally feel like my starter can hold it's own, before I had a Serperior and it did effectively nothing the whole time

@flamingpandaomg It's the coolest looking of the 3 by far. Emboar just happens to actually pack a punch, which is the key difference. Serperior is still my favourite of the 3

@scoot Samurott is fantastic. Maybe you just got a bad natured Serperior. If you got a harmful nature it can ruin it and make it seem useless.

@scoot I tend to delay letting the first evolution happen until a level just before it'd evolve into the last level. They'll have learned most/all of their movepool by then.

@flamingpandaomg But then Snivy would be even weaker than before, I needed the boost in power gained from evolving it. Also this is only my 2nd ever playthrough

@scoot You can usually get around the needed boost by giving it a miracle seed or another item like that.

@scoot Probably just a bad nature then. Also the fact that Serprior is usually built as a special wall meant to absorb lots of hits but not much else. It benefits more from a nature that increases it's Defense or Special Defense. It's not really meant to be an attacker.

@flamingpandaomg What good is that? I play Pokemon like a 7 year old where I just make my Starter smash everybody and if it faints I just cry and give up

@scoot It's more used in competitive where you build up hazards like spikes or stealth rocks and then use toxic and out-last them, not straight up damage them.

@redenchilada Because Snivy's base stats are those that are meant for a wall that takes lots of hits but doesn't do much else. At least not compared to Tepig or Oshawott.
