  1. I go through weird music writing phases. Earlier this year, I was into arranging things for jazz violin, then I was all about taking every song ever and arranging it for guitar driven rock. Now I'm into writing things in 3/4.

    1. @engelhardt I seem to have developed an obsession with triplets lately.

      1. @starshine Triplets are hard to play on the stand up bass. Fortunately when I was playing in a piano trio, I was writing all of our arranges, so I made sure I wasn't playing any.

        1. @engelhardt See, you're actually *playing* stuff. My music is sampled, totally fake, done by machines because they don't make mistakes.

          1. @starshine I never got to record my band, which was a bummer, 'cause I'm an engineer, and have the gear to have made that happen. Haven't recorded any of my arranges, either. That's a big reason why I want to learn violin, I've written a bunch of things for jazz violin I'd like to hear, but I moved, and don't know any violinists here. If I could record bass, record violin, and use Ivory for the piano, it'd sound great, and could do it all myself. If you haven't heard Ivory, give it a listen; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8R9Pk9P4yI If something is played by hand on a velocity sensitive keyboard and isn't quantized, I can't tell the difference between Ivory and an acoustic piano, and I'm a frickin' engineer. Ivory sounds amazing.
