  1. Hey... I'm Fluttershy. I saw this site and made an account. I hope you don't mind...

    1. @vt3c So they can attack Syria.

    2. @awlapplejack Yep. Happens every decade.

Tuesday, 03-Sep-13 08:47:07 UTC from web
    3. @awlapplejack Ironically denying the people the right to decide on which government system is used in their own countries.

Tuesday, 03-Sep-13 08:50:35 UTC from web
    4. @awlapplejack Well with some luck it will start backfiring more often like when Argentina declared war on the UK. Sadly that kind of events are the only way they ever change their policies.

    5. @awlapplejack Guess it comes down to outliving them and watching them infuriate too many countries and then be devoured and slaughtered by a legion of opposers once they show weakness. Shame about the innocents that will inevitably die in the looting, but you can't have everything.

    6. @awlapplejack Well after WWII war became a somewhat minor thing. Too many powers trying to keep themselves and eachother in check, aware that a big conflict will end them all. War does sweep other problems under the rug and makes people band together though.

    7. @awlapplejack @snowcone Hasn't that already happened a bunch of thousands of years before?

Tuesday, 03-Sep-13 09:06:27 UTC from web
    8. @awlapplejack Well the Egyptians were relying on paleotechnology, and really old hindi writings describe what is most likely a full scale nuclear war.

    9. @awlapplejack Don't get me wrong, I despise the idea of losing anything. The world will surely survive, but millenia of work and knowledge will be lost on a hard reset. I don't care about the masses, but I do care deeply for knowledge.

Tuesday, 03-Sep-13 09:19:02 UTC from web
    10. @awlapplejack i do the same

Tuesday, 03-Sep-13 09:25:05 UTC from web
    11. @awlapplejack Nuclear war isn't an option for that. The only viable, if only in concept, option would be sheltering people worth saving and releasing a virus or toxic compound of rapid decay designed to only affect humans, worldwie, massively.

Tuesday, 03-Sep-13 09:25:13 UTC from web
    12. @awlapplejack It can't be properly implemented in the current world. The whole USA invading is so minor a consequence that it's irrelevant. The issue is that inevitably, a lot of those who would be sheltered would be scum. The chemicals would wipe out all armies and most of the population so really an invasion wouldn't be a problem. If anything, it'd be a way of finding free weapons and military hardware lying in the streets, free for taking.

Tuesday, 03-Sep-13 09:31:12 UTC from web
    13. @awlapplejack It /can/ be done, but nobody with the power to pull it off cares to put the hard cash on the table to get the development running. With the current knowledge on DNA and the human body it's possible to do it.

Tuesday, 03-Sep-13 09:38:00 UTC from web
    14. @awlapplejack Our main problem right now is the whole idea of countries. It causes a lot of infighting among our species. It sure keeps some problems from extending worldwode, but also causes many more to the point that a worldwide empire would arguably be better. Also humanity is a species of conquerors, and we've run out of land to conquer.

Tuesday, 03-Sep-13 09:45:21 UTC from web
    15. @awlapplejack Anyone who thinks that humanity has evolved past the need to conquer is either very ignorant or stupid.

Tuesday, 03-Sep-13 09:50:55 UTC from web
    16. @awlapplejack I'm of the opinion that arrogance and pride can be good, but the key is that you can only be arrogant when you have the means to back up your claims. And that's where we fail as a species. Shame that the only spread option is human-hate, which is even worse.

      1. @nerthos Incorrigible.

Tuesday, 03-Sep-13 10:06:50 UTC from web
        1. @pony So could I say about you. I guess we're different like that.

Tuesday, 03-Sep-13 10:20:03 UTC from web
          1. @nerthos Now it's my turn to grin smugly.

Tuesday, 03-Sep-13 10:21:01 UTC from web
            1. @pony You can never out-smug me.

Tuesday, 03-Sep-13 10:24:06 UTC from web
              1. @nerthos You mistake me for someone who wishes to out-smug anybody. I'M THE HUMBLEST PONY WHO EVER PONIED!

Tuesday, 03-Sep-13 10:26:36 UTC from web
                1. @pony And that'll be your undoing.

Tuesday, 03-Sep-13 10:28:27 UTC from web
                  1. @nerthos It's my strength you see, and it could be yours as well, but you don't wish to believe.

Tuesday, 03-Sep-13 10:30:19 UTC from web
                    1. @pony You call it strenght, I call it debt and servitude towards an entity against which you can't stand. I preffer to be my own ruler and to have no debts with anything I can't kill.

Tuesday, 03-Sep-13 10:39:54 UTC from web
                      1. @nerthos Being indebted to Love is a pleasure unlike any other.

Tuesday, 03-Sep-13 10:51:35 UTC from web
                        1. @pony So you'd say. Maybe it works for you. To me dependence is insufferable.

Tuesday, 03-Sep-13 10:58:39 UTC from web
                      2. @nerthos I often think you must be in denial about the fact that you're not omnipotent. I'm fairly sure you're deluded by the thought that you can gain omnipotence without help from an omnipotent being.

Tuesday, 03-Sep-13 10:54:05 UTC from web
                        1. @pony Not at all. That doesn't mean I should go into servitude.

Tuesday, 03-Sep-13 10:59:12 UTC from web
                          1. @nerthos Do you believe it's possible to receive help from such a being without paying a price?

Tuesday, 03-Sep-13 11:03:14 UTC from web
                            1. @pony Not really, but I'd rather negotiate than just throw my methaporical money in there without any sort of safety.

Tuesday, 03-Sep-13 11:04:59 UTC from web
                              1. @nerthos Trust and faith are a difficult price to pay. It means becoming a willing slave after all, but there are at least scraps of evidence that you won't be left high and dry. The more you look for evidence and commit to serving, the more evidence you'll find of the security you're talking about. He doesn't ask for everything at once. You might ask, why not be upfront about it, reveal everything first, and prove that trusting Him will lead to what you desire most? Is that a safe assumption? I could try to answer.

Tuesday, 03-Sep-13 11:16:44 UTC from web
                                1. @pony It just has no point. We're both zealots of different faiths.

Tuesday, 03-Sep-13 11:20:05 UTC from web
                                  1. @nerthos I'd like you to reach your goal, but I think you're going about it wrong of course, and you seem to think I'm foolish for trusting the way I do, but do you really have a better method?

Tuesday, 03-Sep-13 11:24:44 UTC from web
                                    1. @pony I'm not saying I have a better method, but trusting someone who doesn't tell you even half of it isn't by any means sane, and that's why I won't.

Tuesday, 03-Sep-13 11:31:23 UTC from web
                                      1. @nerthos what do you mean by tell you half of it? You can receive a witness of it, but you'd have to commit completely. Again, I could explain why.

Tuesday, 03-Sep-13 11:55:33 UTC from web
                                  2. @nerthos I suppose even if you said you did I wouldn't believe it. I suppose by some definition we are zealots. xD

Tuesday, 03-Sep-13 11:25:52 UTC from web
    17. @awlapplejack Well I'm arrogant and prideful as a man can be without stepping into outright idiocy, and you don't see me causing any harm.
