The Cabal has arrived.

@flashmint Not to mention a reaaally long movie.
Friday, 27-Sep-13 22:45:55 UTC from web -
@flashmint They did a good job at least getting the general feels of the books.
Friday, 27-Sep-13 22:47:11 UTC from web-
@awlpony You need to watch the extended version for it to make sense though. Otherwise there's holes everywhere.
Friday, 27-Sep-13 22:50:00 UTC from web-
@weedlordhitler Oh yeah I was not very happy seeing the two first movies in theatres; the order of the general story was bunsed and too many things missing. I made it a point to get the extended versions to watch them over and over.

@flashmint I'm more hyped for The Hobbit though. They've sticked more to the book than with LotR, and since they're doing three movies for a relatively short book they can put all de detail in it. The Hobbit's story is not as epic, but I honestly liked the book more.

@weedlordhitler I'm happy to have seen an element of Silmarillion in the first installment, which means they're going to intergrate.
Friday, 27-Sep-13 22:50:57 UTC from web-
@awlpony I wonder if they'll try to make a movie out of it too. It'd be weird to say the least.
Friday, 27-Sep-13 22:51:36 UTC from web-
@weedlordhitler I think whatever parts that they don't have in the next two installments of The Hobbit, they will certainly. If they do I'll be happy as long as they do as good a job with the storyline as they have with The Hobbit thus far.

@flashmint Oh that's understandable; I want to say the trilogy was the first major works in English I ever read, at the very least on mine own volition.
Friday, 27-Sep-13 22:50:06 UTC from web -
@flashmint Yeah, I have the extended 2DVD version around too. Watching the six movies one after the other would take you a whole day though.
Friday, 27-Sep-13 22:52:32 UTC from web -
@flashmint Oh? Well I had read The Hobbit, the LotR trilogy and Silmarillion purely out of volition. They helped me actually learn to like the English language, that and other things.
Friday, 27-Sep-13 22:55:09 UTC from web -
@flashmint It gets stale when alone. With a couple friends it's a completely different story.
Friday, 27-Sep-13 22:55:46 UTC from web -
@flashmint I was the same way actually! Based a more heavy part of my teachings off of wanting to read and understand the trilogy.
Friday, 27-Sep-13 22:57:00 UTC from web -
@flashmint There's people who can't stand that kind of stories/movies. My brother for example.
Friday, 27-Sep-13 22:58:25 UTC from web -
@flashmint I had that and a reading on syntax at hand. I felt it a fun game of deciphering, but I had always been that way with languages.
Friday, 27-Sep-13 23:00:21 UTC from web -
@flashmint I think he means a general distaste for the genre, really.
Friday, 27-Sep-13 23:01:15 UTC from web-
@awlpony Not the genre itself, but LotR isn't for everybody. If you don't love excruciating detail you'll get really bored.
Friday, 27-Sep-13 23:02:13 UTC from web-
@weedlordhitler Ah, which is why I enjoyed the stories so much.
Friday, 27-Sep-13 23:03:29 UTC from web-
@awlpony I honestly liked The Hobbit more than any other book in the franchise, since it was the perfect balance between detail and plot advancement.
Friday, 27-Sep-13 23:06:01 UTC from web-
@weedlordhitler I liked it the most as well but mostly for the musical elements, much more a feeling of the lifestyle in Middle Earth I think. I always tried to sound out the songs when reading through them.
Friday, 27-Sep-13 23:07:49 UTC from web-
@awlpony That was excruciating, since there was no way to know what melody the author wrote them for.
Friday, 27-Sep-13 23:08:43 UTC from web-
@weedlordhitler Ah but I had tried to make a game of it! And I may say, I rather enjoyed That's What Bilbo Baggins Hates in the film. Mostly what I expected, and imagined it to be like.
Friday, 27-Sep-13 23:10:26 UTC from web-
@awlpony To be fair I don't remember the songs from the movie.

@flashmint Boredom. Some people just get really bored at it.
Friday, 27-Sep-13 23:01:33 UTC from web -
@flashmint Oh that is understandable. I would have been the same way, if not for a love of the story itself and a need to understand all of it.
Friday, 27-Sep-13 23:03:12 UTC from web -
@flashmint Yes, and you had that to help. I was reading reading Return of the King shortly before the first movie came out.
