@faceroll Here you have a set of assignments you need to pass to graduate, and optional classes are just that, optional.

@weedlordhitler Basically there's a set amount of credits in each category (History, English, Science, Math and usually Personal Finance) that you need by the time you're done to qualify to graduate.

@weedlordhitler somewhat similar but some electives are mandatory such as foreign language ,health ,technology etc

@faceroll Here those are in the essential list. Each school generally selects one foreign language, but some offer you one of a bunch they teack.
