  1. This stinks. I was using Google Drive to write a History paper. I completed it but afterwards I found out that the server went down while I was writing it (which isn't unusual here. All of the computers are Linux.). I need a copy of it now and I only have the first two sentences. On top of that the only person working on fixing this internet problem is actually one of the students because the school is to cheep to get someone else's help. MY LIFE SUCKS RIGHT NOW!

    1. @azureblaze that really does suck. I always praised Google Drive for being the solution to never losing your work. I guess it's back to saving often on an external device.

      1. @pony That's the problem. I can't! School's computers all run on Linux. No Microsoft office Word. Its not Google's fault its my school's for having such crappy internet connection. The internet keeps failing every period and has to be reset every period just to be fixed. I hate the new Linux. I wish we stayed with just plain old Microsoft so that we could at least work while the internet is down.

        1. @azureblaze open source is good. They should just install LibreOffice on their linux machines.

        3. @azureblaze and compatible with MS.. I'd be surprised if your school computers don't have it already.. or Gnome Office maybe

        4. @azureblaze I have an idea: Keep all your work in more than one location. If you'd downloaded the document and stuck it on a memory stick you'd not be having any problems right now at all

          1. @scoot @azureblaze saving multiple copies is a pain, but worth it for important things.

            1. @pony I don't think CTRL+C CTRL+V is actually that difficult to manage

              1. @scoot It messes up formatting that way. Can't Google Drive export though? I'd use that. Still not as easy as type and let the internet do the rest..

                1. @pony ...I did say download it, as in export it as a word format document or something and then copy paste it onto a memory stick. You have a copy on your school system, one on drive and one on your memory stick and it took no effort at all.

                  1. @scoot oh! /that/ kind of copy-paste. I gotcha. Yeah, not terrible, though even exporting/importing messes with the formatting some. Still, you probably wouldn't have to mess to much with formatting unless you lost the original.

              2. @scoot or type in a word processor and import to GDrive.
