  1. Thanks everypony. Anyone here use a Linux that isn't based on Ubuntu? Sure is a learning curve when you're switching. I broke stuff.

    1. @drewdle Arch user, and loving it! I've used about 20 other distros at some point or another. :)

      1. @starshine Awesome. I'm using CrunchBang. It's still Debian underneath, but it's pretty different from the big U.

        1. @drewdle How much of the Debian politics have they inherited? That's the big thing that I couldn't handle with that one.

          1. @starshine Not sure yet. Haven't really spent much time with their community, but they seem like a decent bunch of guys. It's just a really clean, stripped down, OpenBox/XFCE based Debian variant. If by politics you mean waiting a million years for things to make it to the stable repos, then yes.

            1. @drewdle I meant the whole deal of making it unreasonably difficult to install rather important packages like MP3 players, DVD reading libraries, Flash player, etc.; removing documentation/manpages because someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed and doesn't like the GFDL; applying patches that remove functionality from programs. That sort of thing.

              1. @starshine Heh, some of that is still in the cards. Like Icedove and Iceweasel instead of Thunderbird and Firefox (retarded nonsense). That said, most codecs I've ever heard of, Sun Java, Flash, etc, are all installed out of the box.

                1. @drewdle Lol, iceweasel. I *still* don't get their reasoning on not just supplying a normal, unpatched Firefox package. But whatever, a rose by any other name etc.

            2. @drewdle ... can you tell that Debian is not my favorite distro. Sorry for going on a bit of a rant.
