#InOtherNews, I went to Toys'R'Us today to see if they have that display case thing with all the blind bag ponies in it. They don't. I asked them, and had a very interesting conversation with the guy who usually does all the shelving for that section. He said that ponies "aren't exactly popular" and that they just tend to sit on the shelves and take up space. (Then he asked if I was interested in either Strawberry Shortcake or Barbie, because they're more popular. WHAT.)

@starshine Ponies aren't popular?....That guy is crazy.

@darklycute Around here they sure aren't. That'd explain why they always seem to have a couple of everything in stock, why Target never put out a Canterlot display, and why the Kmart people were entirely unaware that pony toys even existed.

@starshine Target doesn't have a Canterlot display? The ones near me were pretty slow going about it, but they got it up eventually. As for Kmart, that's just Kmart.

@eaglehooves This area is a pony dead zone.

@starshine I'm not sure exactly where in Ohio you are, but stores around here are all over the place. There's two Targets in Westerville, and they both carry different stuff.

@eaglehooves I think there's two Targets within reasonable driving distance, and neither of them are worth visiting for pony stuff. Also, you're in Columbus, which is not exactly a small town. :)

@starshine I like to think of myself as being in Westerville as opposed to Columbus. It's just that I'm about equal distance from two Targets and their both totally different experiences.

@eaglehooves haha, I just view anything within ten miles or so of 270 as still being Columbus. :) Kind of like how everything around Phoenix until you get to unpopulated desert is still Phoenix.

@starshine Yea. It's just that the line between Columbus and Westerville is painfully obvious. Over about a mile everything changes, goes from "nice place to hang out" to "I'm going to get jumped".

@eaglehooves Haha, okay, that's probably reason enough to consider it separate. Still all looks the same on a map though.

@eaglehooves Having lived in the northeastern region of Columbus for 2 years and having hung out in that area and Westerville for half a decade or more before that, I fail to see the distinction of which you speak. And if you're talking of the Easton vs. Polaris Targets, they've always seemed to have basically the exact same crowd to me. Both areas are upscale shopping districts, anyway.

@rpb3000 They had pretty different selections when I was there. They both attract the same crowd, but Easton was MUCH better stocked. As for the mile, I think I exaggerated a bit, but Morse and Cleveland change as you leave the city limits. It goes from upscale shopping to used car lots, discount stores, and a number of pawn shops.

@eaglehooves That's more a problem of history and economic exploitation than class. Morse *was* the upscale shopping district, complete with Northland mall and cookie-cutter copies of every chain store. Then they built Easton. Northland closed. Then they built Polaris. Everything else closed. Rent cheapened so the building owners could get *somepony* to at least use the space, and dollar stores and pawnshops popped up. Same thing happens everywhere as time moves on and the fickle want things shiny and new. Northern Lights (Cleveland & Innis) still has an amazing GameStop that's somehow better stocked then the other 3 close by, and there's a really good Asian grocery, an awesomely large thrift store, and BuyBacks (which used to be better, sadly) at Cleveland & 161. There was a really good game store *in* Westerville at Shrock & State, but that went out years ago. I can't really think of anything else worth going to within its limits at this point...

@eaglehooves PS also of note, both Polaris and Easton are somehow within Columbus city limits. The limits are all screwed up around Columbus. Just look at this: http://oat.nu/w701j

@rpb3000 I'm well aware of that. I have family that lives on Hoover Reservoir. They have a marker in their back yard marking the Westerville/Columbus line. As for the decline of Northland, my dad's told me the story. Bit of a shame, it seems like all the buildings there were nice, but when things moved outside I270, everything went downhill fast. I'm sure there are some nice places in there, but I don't feel as comfortable driving my dad's looks-like-new car down there (It's a few years old, but it doesn't show). As a small built pony in a well maintained import, I feel out of place.

@eaglehooves You know Cooke Rd through the middle of there is upscale housing, right? Property values of the residential districts don't really start dropping until you get south of North Broadway. Even then, things don't really get "ghetto fabulous" until you get south of Hudson. Don't confuse the large Somalian community in the area for ghetto trash, even though they have a habit of acting like it :p (Urban Studies was my major when I attended Cleveland State, so if I'm boring you with uninteresting babble, just let me know and I'll shup.)

@rpb3000 I'm not inside 270 very often (actually, I don't get out much at all), like I said, I'm sure there are some nice areas, it's just that there are some where I feel VERY out of place, only a short distance from there. There were some people at my school who came from Columbus addresses south of Westerville, and promoted that reputation every chance they got, so that probably doesn't help.
