  1. Don't know how many others knew this & don't care. I looked up "Alicorn". it's not actually a unicorn with pegasus wings or a pegasus with a unicorn horn. It's just the substance that a unicorn horn was said to be made from. :P

    1. @fortecanter I knew, but apparently it was adopted somewhere along the line.

      1. @fencingblind I think it's a throwback to the furry community. They're the only people outside of MLP who use it that way.

        1. @ceruleanspark As many friends as I have from that community, I don't think any of them are big on equines of any type, I did not know that.

          1. @fencingblind I used to know a couple of Equines, which is where I picked the word up from. The consensus was that it sounded a heck of a lot better than "Pegacorn"

            1. @ceruleanspark ... I completely agree with this consensus.

    2. @fortecanter @ceruleanspark @fencingblind Ok so my five minutes of internet research shows the same thing. Also apparently there's a ruby at the base of a unicorn horn called the carbuncle that's the source of their magic. Or something. In any case, I also agree that alicorn sounds a lot better than pegacorn, although pegacorn also doesn't sound... legit. Who here is well-versed in mythology?
