  1. @mangeurdenuage O_o
    How does that in any way connect to my Reductio as Absurdum about "ethical" licences (i.e. those that try to forbid "bad people" from using the product)?

      • @kaniini I heard ICE employees can consume Public Domain works without asking anyone's permission.
        I propose replacing release of art into Public Domain with a transfer of ownership to a company that will make sure everything is used ethically. That'd be Disney, since they have been on the front lines for decades already.

                          @sptnkmmnt Reasonable. Imperfect English is a sure way to get one's heinie banned, especially when in social or political discussions.

                                @mangeurdenuage @p Quite an interesting read.
                                But I should point out that a good chunk of these points is out of date:
                                > PHP errors and PHP exceptions are completely different beasts. They don’t seem to interact at all.
                                > Function arguments can have “type hints”, which are basically just static typing. But you can’t require that an argument be an int or string or object or other “core” type, even though every builtin function uses this kind of typing, probably because int is not a thing in PHP.
                                Like this is no longer true.

                                  • @a1batross I've got to wonder what are the correct five key phrases of software development…
                                    1. get a machine;
                                    2. install the toolchain;
                                    3. write the code;
                                    4. process the code into a machine-readable form;
                                    5. ???
                                    6. throw it all away and run live in the woods.
