@sim @hakui @dtluna I've also had to deal with all three kinds the past five years. Those that were given no nip in the butt turned into devils that not even their parents could control, those that were punished accordingly turned out well mannered and respectful, those that were abused, which is what seems happened to you, came out like frightened deer in front of an 18 wheeler. Is it right to abuse? No. Is it right to withold punishment? No. As withmost things one must find the middle path and stay clear of either extreme.
