@leonkfox I just don't care for the sequel movies. It's so anti-Walt. Walt never wanted to do a sequel to any of his films. It's all Eisner-era shenannigans, and I blame him for the tarnishing of the Disney image. While others were pushing the envelope, he was only focusing on profits. Disney HAD to buy Pixar, just so they could still be relevant in modern animation. They lost the farm over Treasure Planet, while a year later Finding Nemo grossed almost a billion dollars wen all was said and done.

@leonkfox I am being a little over dramatic, as Disney does have good properties these days, but I can't say anyone has a crazy breakout hit like MLP.

@leonkfox They do, but they sunk $140 million into it, chasing the 7 - 16 demographic. The movie was a complete wash, while their "cheapquel" department cranking out dvd movies for nothing was making all the cash. They shut down the animation departments in Orlando, fired everyone, scaled back their Cali department, and went after the short-term cash cow. That's why we have garbage like Beauty and the Beast 3 and Bambi 2: Electric Boogaloo.

@leonkfox Oh they are VERY aware. In the interview, Jayson and the execs toss pony PMVs back and forth at the start of their meetings. There's no doubt to the show's popularity. Disne would KILL for this kind of demographic popularity. Their failed quest for it was partly responsible for killing their traditional animation department (See: Treasure Planet). Hasbro has pure gold on their hands, and they're going to manuver carefully with this while trying not to take their franchise off the rails.

@leonkfox If the Jayson Theissen interview is anything to go by, I'd say Hasbro is definitely aware of us and trying to figure out the best way to approach us, merch wise. Giving WeLoveFine the rights to make shirts for the brony crowd is definitey a good cheap step in the right diretion. Producing toys for a whole new demogrpahic is probably a LOT more expensive and probably takes at least a year or so to research, prototype, design and ulitmately mast-produce. If we do get anything show-accurate for the brony crowd, it's going to be at least another year off, my guess.
