    !linux !debian is there anything I can do to make debian recognize a brand-new USB3 thumb? It's recognized without a hitch on Dennis (LMDE) and not at all on Nikola (Deb Jessie); kernel used on Nikola is not teh latest (which doesn't work) but still newer than that on Dennis. # # this doesn't make things easy...

    @kromonos ich hätte ja gern eine Firewall mit WebUI wie # oder # - aber auf # oder # basierend - damit ich bei Bedarf beliebige Pakete installieren kann, und auf der Shell schalten und walten kann. Bei PfSense bin ich da hilflos

    /me is #: the already somewhat 'suspect' external drive (suspect because its twin sister died recently) caused File Manager (Thunar) to crash an hour or so ago - and it was remounted read-only. But fschk found nothing wrong, and after reboot it's mounted and writeable... So: more suspect even than it was. But what could have happened? Anyone? !debian !linux

    @erkanyilmaz latest version available from # - and I cannot tell how many tabs since I cannot start it with tabs and there's no list. I found a (binary) file that contains the session, with URLs in single-byte format (most of the rest in double-byte); using GHex to find usable URLs so I can at least reconstruct what I was doing # IMO the problem is simply that it wants to *load* every single tab rather than have an option to 'list' or show the tabs without loading them. It can eat up 95% memory and more...

    well, damn - that took a long time to figure out: running Debian testing # the latest updates resulted in a somehow broken kernel 3.16-3, USB devices were not properly recognized or initialized and boot process hung. Found out I can start up 3.16-2 and then there are no problems at all. (New type of problem for me so it took 'only' several hours to get to that point - glad it's not a hardware problem though!) # # #
