If they didn't revert the body to ash there would be a slight chance of sompony discovering it, therefore contradicting the information on Miss Winggates file. So.... yep.

"This can become a problem if it's discovered. We need to play our cards right as to remain anonymous. Lennox, I want you to lay low for a while. If there were witnesses it's possible that they could indentify you. Boris, I want you to find out who this mare was. History, family, information, /everything/. This is key to keeping this little issue quiet. Capiche?"
