@tuttle @lnxw48 I think this might be related to what @gargron has experienced on #Mastodon. The <content> element being empty/broken/something.

My guess it's got something to do with the instances that generate these errors. Something aborting the inclusion of <content> data. Oddly enough it only appears occasionally (otherwise it'd be rendered incorrectly in the Atom representation: https://status.vinilox.eu/api/statuses/show/4426688.atom

...but this assumes that if content is empty, !gnusocial falls back to the title property when parsing. Which I can't say I am 100% certain of without looking at the code.

@gargron you aren't 100% compatible with #gs. there might be #reasons, *you might even be right*, but in practical terms its a huge impediment to adoption. the only reason i care about #gs or #mastodon at all is because i want to connect to the !fediverse.

@cphuntington97 Reminds me that I need to suggest @gargron add ability to enable account approval by DentMaster / Moderator and ability to enable invite-only. Hoping to stand up a temporary test #Mastodon instance after the server move.

@gargron It isn't all or none. It is some new instances will run #GNU_Social, some will run #PostActiv, some will run #Mastodon. I think of the projects more as allies than competitors.

@notnavigium @grmpyoldman With all #Twitter's VC funding, it would be financially crippling for a group of individuals or even a non-profit group to purchase T and continue operating it. Investing those funds in standing up public and community-based instances plus accelerating development of #GNU_Social, #Friendica, #Mastodon, #Diaspora would be a much better way to spend those funds.
