  9. pfft! It's not so easy to find a good set of # theme(s) and plugins to start an awesome- looking # blog. Getting there... slowly

  11. good morning !tzaf !fediverse :) # is setting and I'm already considering a handy extension to my # template for # # #

  12. now that I've got the # plugin # working (apart from conditional fieldsets) I'vce set up my form and I'm busily gathering my notes and bookmarks together - a list of 27 programs (Linux) for !photgraphy so far, ranging from simple viewers and command-line utilities to high-end DAM and # # software (some of which I have yet to look at); # I can start creating wiki pages with basic data and my personal notes \o/

  13. So, the # # plugin does work - just not in all circumstances, and it doesn't tell you when/why it fails... in short: no output when conditional fieldsets are not shown. All duly reported. Now trying to create a form for it that *does* work and suits my purposes so I can start documenting my set of # # software... enough to keep me amused today :) #

  15. @mk so, I'm going to make a file (later: page) for each separate software tool for # #, # and #, listing where the main home page is, where the download page is, how to install, and any problems noted. A lot of work getting it set up, but I'm going to need this later (XnView and XnConvert already have new versions since I installed them just days ago...). I'll need a template. Maybe a nice project for # #

  16. Gathering my notes about # # software... searching for my old remarks about # I just stumbled upon https://statusnet.underworld.fr/notice/4717 - which made me realise the Debian version of DarkTable is also way behind: installed: 1.0.4 - latest: 1.2.3 (as of 4 months ago). So my remarks (16 December) may not be valid for this much later version :( Guess I'll have to manually install that, too. !photography

  17. surprised and disappointed that # doesn't have its own page in Wikipedia. it gets a mention on 'Comparison of image viewers' https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_image_viewers but that doesn't do it justice: it's *far* more than a 'viewer'! !photography # # #

  18. wow - Debian has Fotoxx 11.11.1 in its repo; Fedora (17) has Fotoxx 13.01 - going to http://www.kornelix.com/fotoxx.html I find the current version is actually 14.01.1 !photography # #

  19. did a quick eval of FotoPreProcessor - interesting, but I'd have to hack it (a little) to make it execute *my* 'standard' preprocessing steps with ExifTool; seems possible - it's Python + Qt4, code seems well-organized. !photography # #

  20. While I was in Groningen, I installed Fotoxx on Dennis, but didn't look at it. Played around with it just now - turns out it's a handy photo organiser, browser and editor, with some quite interesting tools. It's capable of 16-bit color as well, and supports RAW via dcraw (it asked for that when first started). Definite # After that, I found it in the Debian repo as well, but that a much older version, with more confusing navigation. I want it avauilable on Nikola though, so I'm planning to do a manual install of the latest version instead. !photography # #

  21. It seems # http://lightzoneproject.org/ is now rising from the ashes - I looked at it before, but then it was just 'the software is now available for free' and a hope it could reinvent itself as an OSS project. It seems to be working! After a crashy DarkTable on Nikola (Debian) and a non-functional CinePaint on Dennis (Fedora) I'm going to try LZ next. Odd that it's still so hard to find a fully functional 16-bit # # package for Linux (for GIMP that's still no more than a promise, and CinePaint *may* see more development this year - but I need something now). !photography
