@micahflee on GNUsocial instances with the !Qvitter ui you can always see the number of unread notifications in the browser tab.

(Btw: This is something that #Twitter doesn't do right because it just shows the number of new ordinary posts in your timeline. The number of mentions is obviously more important)
 
Also if you have suggestions, wether on GNUsocial or Mastodon, you can always make suggestions to the devs, or fiddle around with the code yourself. On Twitter it's just "accept it or go away". @pettter

[l] Ihr werdet ja sicher gesehen haben, dass 1984 von George Orwell gerade die Amazon-Bestsellerliste anführt. Das hat mich ein bisschen zum Nachdenken gebracht, und mir fiel auf, dass es mich enorm mitnimmt, dass es in 1984 smarte, kompetente Fieslinge braucht, um so ein Schweinesystem aufzubauen. Und bei uns in der Realität können es ein paar Clowns mit einem Twitter-Account durchziehen. Das heißt doch für mich, dass diese ganze Ära der Zivilisation und Stabilität bisher eine Illusion war, oder nicht? Nicht nur ein bisschen eine Illusion. Eine krasse Illusion, die uns alle in einem falschen Gefühl der Sicherheit eingelullt hat. Das lässt die ganzen Diskussionen in der Schule über die Nazizeit für mich in einem ganz neuen Licht erscheinen. Das ganze "naja das waren halt schwierige Zeiten damals mit der Weltwirtschaftskrise und so, aber wir heute in unserer stabilen Demokratie, bei uns wäre das viel unwahrscheinlicher" war doch Selbstb…
