@bassdriver Applejack just didn't really have any defining episodes in season 1 (unlike those that the rest of the cast had). As such she never really caught my attention as more than comedic relief (accent and line wise), and just a general support character. That's the only reason I rank her low.

@bassdriver Aww, Rarity so low? She's one of my favs :P ~ Applejack used to be my bottom, but I think I might have to push Pinkie down a notch... I'm not sure anymore that I can have a #6 - might just be two #5s q.q

@bassdriver Yeah, it's not even a really shippy fic though. It's more just a day in the life of Applejack and Soarin. I enjoyed it a lot, and it made me appreciate Applejack as a character more. (She's my least favorite of the mane 6... though I'm not sure I can say the same still q.q)

@bassdriver If you're looking for just a short(ish) read - I'd go with Always Sunny in Fillydelphia. It's an AJ x Soarin light-ship fic. Doesn't really go anywhere, but it's a good retelling of a meeting of the two.

@bassdriver I wouldn't say so. It's heartfelt in a few spots - but nothing sappy I'd say. It's no serious ship-fic. It's just a personal conflict, and all that jazz.

@bassdriver I don't know. Something about putting those characters is grimdark stories; it pulls on two different spectrums and leaves me in a no mans land.

@bassdriver Past Sins is brilliantly written. It's more of a general story than anything else, dealing with self-discovery and that sort of theme.

@bassdriver Ballad of Twilight Sparkle, Always Sunny In Fillydelphia, and Black and White are some of my favorites. They all contain some level of shipping though - so that's a consideration.
