@spike And assuming all of that goes off without a hitch, she's still a VERY talented pony, and may just try to deal with him herself. And even if it actually does work in the short run, what happens when she finds out later? Plus, anything that he'd be robbing from the library is property of either Ponyville or the Palace, so even having a whiff of a robber in there will have the town crawling with Royal Guards faster than you can say "Luna", which is saying something. *takes another breath*

If that fails, she's still the Princess's student, and if she personally doesn't have a spell capable of dealing with him, the Princess does.
